For me, European or other destination cruises are different from Caribbean cruises in that I spend most of my time off the ship. Taking up part of decks 18, 19 and 20 was the Prima Speedway, a racetrack where, for $15, you can zoom around and race others. Sometimes, you could hear the sound of the cars from other decks.

My shore excursion ticket was in my room when I first got into my cabin, and it told me when to meet in the theater. At the specified time, someone called the number of the tour, and I went to the front of the theater to get a sticker with a group number on it and got off the ship. On this trip, I did one ship-sponsored shore excursion to Normandy and the D-Day beaches, which was on the first day. My Latitudes status gave me a 10% discount on the tour itself, and the Free at Sea perk gave me $50 in onboard credit after completing the excursion.
Norwegian Prima's interactive show productions are the first at sea when the Prima Theater transforms into a nightclub and all guests participate in the show. The theater lounge also hosts the 2022-debuted game show "The Price is Right LIVE". Norwegian Prima appeals to families, thanks to its swath of activities, kids programming and clubs and variety of cabins and configurations available for families. But it's also a good pick couples and groups of friends cruising together. Because of its solo cabins and devoted solo studio space, Prima is popular among single travelers who want to cruise but don't want to pay a single supplement.

While it’s also known for being a free pastime accessible to all passengers, we can forgive a slight upcharge for Norwegian’s new, interactive take on traditional top-deck mini golf. To access most of what it offers, including the saunas, pools, salt room, steam rooms and heated loungers in relaxation rooms, you need to buy a pass either for a day or a full voyage. You can make reservations for specialty dining venues and the main dining rooms before embarkation and while on board at either a dining desk or on the TV system in the room. The TV system allows you to make a reservation, but not cancel one, so I had to wait in the dining desk line anyway.
Dinner at Los Lobos
While there was obviously more space in the cabin, along with upgraded features, we were most excited about getting to explore all the exclusive Haven areas up on Deck 16. On both sides of Ocean Boulevard, there are infinity pools as well as shallow dipping pools. In standard balcony cabins, the wall behind the bed is lined with a striking art piece featuring nature and butterflies — a focal point. It's designed to carry just 3,100 passengers at double occupancy.
Among the small touches in the seating area are raised, Japanese-style platforms where diners can tuck their shoes underneath before being seated on floor cushions. In short, it's like nothing you've seen before in the Norwegian fleet. And I say this as someone who has sailed on every one of the 18 ships operated by Norwegian except two (Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Spirit). It has an array of onboard entertainment and amusements that is as impressive as ever, too. The free-to-use dry slides speed you from Deck 18 to Deck 8.
This 50-minute production is a lot fun, but we still like Choir of Man better. With no official dinner plans, we changed up and headed up to the Haven Lounge. Since we had just visited Halifax a few weeks ago on our Holland America Canada and New England cruise, we did not have any tours scheduled for the day. Our plan was to grab some breakfast and do a little filming around the ship before heading ashore to stroll the boardwalk area. With dinner lasting over two hours tonight, mainly due to us chatting, we b-lined to Syd Norman’s for the scheduled Rumours set at 9 PM.
Lots of people in a small space got really hot and disorganized, but soon my parents and I had our luggage and were out the door and into a taxi. The Prima was scheduled to dock in Barcelona at 5 a.m., and disembarkation was set to begin as soon as local authorities cleared the ship. The other times were based on flight time and whether people had a ship-sponsored tour of the city. The earliest time was for people who wanted to take all of their luggage off the ship themselves. The ship had a small shore excursion desk where the staff mostly sold ship-sponsored excursions and offered limited information about the ports themselves.
"The Haven by Norwegian" on PRIMA-class NCL ships (designed by Piero Lissoni & Partners) spans 8 decks and groups suites, public areas, and exclusive venues, all positioned in the aft/stern section. The main theater, Prima Theater & Club, is located all the way forward on decks 6 and 7. This is a multiuse space, with seats that can be removed to turn this spot into a late-night dance club.
The inaugural season included 10-day Baltic itineraries leaving from Amsterdam Holland and Copenhagen Denmark and visiting ports in Northern Europe (including Norway's Fjords). Indulge Food Hall is a concept introduced on Norwegian Prima. This spot is actually a true food hall, made up of 11 restaurants.
